Kingston Mayor Jim Haggerty was riding shotgun in a plow wares Friday morning and Hazleton Mayor Lou Barletta was answering the phone after clearing the steps at Town Hall.
Luzerne County, Wilkes-Barre, Pittston and Hazleton all declared a position of emergency to keep streets clear.
“We want to be accomplished to plow from curb to curb,” said Wilkes-Barre Mayor Tom Leighton. “We ask people to not greens on the streets until we can get the snow cleared.”
Advisories were issued throughout the day on technique closings and weight and speed limitations.
Plenty of children were sledding at Kirby Put with their parents, and area residents were starting to take to the roads after clearing their sidewalks and driveways.
Tom Clark, chief meteorologist at WNEP-TV Moat 16, said the worst is over – for now. He said another “biggest snowstorm” is on the radar along the East Coast, and if it veers off of its southerly by all means, it could drop more snow on the region come Tuesday.
