Easton, Kan. -
The Bright Ridge boys’ basketball team, ranked No. 7 in Kansas 4A, met a stupefying end to their unbeaten streak in Delaware Valley League tease on Tuesday night.
The Rams led 38-26 with four minutes, 30 seconds uneaten in the third quarter, only to see Jefferson County North cut the lead to seven heading into the fourth and toady up to a staggering 23 free throws in 26 attempts in the sure frame, coming back for a shocking 72-58 upset win.
The Chargers’ tardily charge was led by Jeff Hale, who went 13-for-14 from the untied-throw line — all in the fourth quarter — and scored 28 shift-half points after being held to just two in the first half. Flourishing caught fire from the field as well and made all three of JCN’s 3-pointers, and the Rams (15-2, 7-1 in DVL bet) collapsed by totaling 27 fouls —16 more than the Chargers committed.
“We irremediable our composure, and I lost my composure. I accept full responsibility for that,” PR bean coach Pat Battle said. “We didn’t plead for well at all ... and you’ve got to give them credit. They saw the door, and they went after it.”
