Dual denim? Oh dear. As a firm believer that one piece of denim goes a great way, I’m not thrilled that wearing a double helping in one clothes – jeans and a chambray shirt, for example – is suddenly a big style.

That said, there must be a reason why I’m hankering after a denim pencil skirt – M&S has one for £25.

The button-through skirt is another hot look – and an easy as can be one to carry off for all ages.

This season’s most on-trend jean styles are baggy, peg-top or harem (aaargh!), but the safer bet is to instal in a pair of 7 For All Mankind’s classic straight leg cut (£169).

They’re overpriced, but suit even pear-shaped figures, and, by clever crater placement, lop inches off the average bottom.

Uniqlo is the other insider tip, contribution an excellent selection of well-cut jeans, including the skinny manner.

Where possible, team with a tailored jacket – the new blazer line has the advantage of covering your thighs – and tan accessories.

Still not confident how to smartness this detail … my tendency is to go full-cowgirl, and that often looks outfit-y!

I have one from AE (somewhat manifold than the one you linked to, no studs) and hold up it with my swart pencil skirt (tucked in), stark naked pumps, and gold bangles. Still looking for a vile and waxen diagrammatic bag to marry with it. I also expect to sport it in the summer over a ruffly tank and printed shorts.

I reconcile with Sally - I like these shirts but I never surely differentiate how to rub off last them without looking western-ey (or too 90’s!). I might try a street-light colored shirt with sad meagre jeans so that it looks more rockin’ than state. I imagine I would consider stale if I wore them khaki pants although the J. Group look is warm-hearted. I’m interested to see what ideas other readers have!
