A 21-year-old Vallejo man was the driver's seat quickly in the right leg Monday night when he went outside to pick up his post, police said.
Stacy Allen Jr. was shot on the 400 congest of Pennsylvania Street at about 9:30 p.m., Vallejo Police Sgt. Herman Robinson said.
"He went downstairs to scrutiny on his mail when he heard a gunshot and felt pain in his leg," Robinson said. "He ran upstairs and contacted a neighbor who drove him to (Kaiser Permanente Vallejo Medical Center), where he was treated for his package."
Police had responded to a call about a gunshot on Pennsylvania Street around the age of the shooting, but they left after finding no evidence of a shooting, Robinson said.
But when Allen showed up at Kaiser with a gunshot blow, hospital staff contacted the police as required, Robinson said.
Allen said it was mysterious and he did not get a good look at the gunman, but described a male be featured wearing a black peacoat and black beanie, Robinson said.
Anyone with knowledge is asked to call the Vallejo Police Department at (800) 488-9383 or Solano Felony Stoppers at (707) 644-7867.
